Deployment of EU Mission on Armenia's Border Escalates Situation, Says Azerbaijan's Chief of General Staff
The deployment of an EU mission on the Armenian territory escalates the situation at the border. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijan, Kerim Veliev, during a meeting with NATO International Military Staff Chief, Lieutenant General Janusz Adamczak, who is visiting Azerbaijan.
According to the Chief of General Staff, the placement of the EU observation mission at the conditional border on Armenian territory, as well as the military support to Armenia by some countries outside the region, particularly France, has led to the activation of revanchist forces in Armenia. This has created obstacles on the path to normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and is hindering the peace process, thereby escalating the situation in the South Caucasus.
It is noteworthy that the NATO International Military Staff Chief also visited Armenia days earlier and met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan.
