Man Attacks Atatürk Statue with Hammer in Turkey

In the city of Ayvalık, a man attacked the statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with a hammer, located in the Republic Square. Nearby citizens intervened in the assailant's actions targeted at the statue.

Initially, the onlookers did not react, not understanding what was happening. However, once they recognized the man's intent, they immediately stepped in to address the situation. The assailant was arrested by responding authorities.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that the detained individual had been receiving psychological treatment for an extended period. A judicial investigation has been initiated against him.

It is important to note that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey, serving from 1923 to 1938.
