UN Secretary-General Denied Entry to Israel
The Israeli Foreign Minister has declared UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres a persona non grata and has banned his entry into the country. This was reported by the press service of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
Recently, Antonio Guterres condemned the escalation of conflict in the Middle East amid Iran's aggression against Israel and called for a ceasefire.
"The Israeli Foreign Minister Katz announced today that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been declared persona non grata in Israel, prohibiting his entry into the country. This decision was made considering Guterres' response to Iran's heinous attack on Israel, as he did not unequivocally condemn this serious aggression," the statement reads.
It is noteworthy that on October 1, Iran launched a missile attack on Israel, firing at least 400 ballistic missiles at Israeli military targets. According to the IRGC, 80 percent of the missiles hit their targets. Iranian media reports indicate that the missiles struck gas platforms in Ashkelon and targeted the Israeli Negev air base.
The Israeli "9" TV channel, citing Tsakhal, stated that "the missile attack will have consequences." The IRGC, in turn, has promised a devastating response.
