Who is Fighting Against the Church? Statement by Karekin II

It is a historical and undeniable truth that to fight against Holy Etchmiadzin means to fight against the Armenian identity and existence, to strike at the Armenian statehood, and to strip Armenian life of its national and spiritual content. This was stated by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, during the consecration ceremony of the Mother Cathedral.

“Any attempt to devalue the mission of Holy Etchmiadzin means trying to undermine our nation, to erode the foundations of an independent and sovereign life, which the Armenian Church advocates and protects,” the Catholicos emphasized.

He added that our homeland is strong with the filial love towards Holy Etchmiadzin and the powerful unity of the people. “Our patriarchal message to you, the faithful Armenian people, is to protect our country and our sanctities, to be filled with hope and optimism for the elevation and advancement of our lives, anchoring it on justice, truth, and honesty, to inspire in us everywhere the spirit of national dedication, brotherhood, and solidarity, to reject indifference, intolerance, and resentment, to keep our history free from falsifications and distortions, and collectively care for our homeland, understanding that our sovereign country is the guarantor of our identity preservation and the realization of our national aspirations,” stated His Holiness Karekin II.
