I have no information whether the government will participate in the reopening of the Mother Cathedral or not, the deputies have not received an invitation, but I will not participate, since the spiritual fathers do not have an acceptable decision regarding Bagrat Galstanyan; they should express their stance on his wording. This was noted by MP Hovik Agazaryan from the Civil Contract faction in an interview with 24News.

“At this moment, there is still no discussion in the faction; if the CP discusses the issue of participating in the reopening of the Cathedral, I will do everything to ensure that they do not participate. If they decide to participate, as a member, I will also participate,” stated Agazaryan.

In response to the comment that Archbishop Mikael Ajabapyan of the Shirak diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church said that if the government reconsiders its position and repents, they will accept them, the MP remarked, “We do not need to repent before God; we are accountable to the people, of which the clergy are also a part; we are not accountable to the church or before God.”
