VIDEO: Vladimir Putin's Speech at the Permanent Meeting of the Security Council of Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the necessity to adapt strategic planning documents to modern realities, considering the emergence of new sources of military threats for Russia and its allies. He stated this during a permanent meeting of the Security Council of Russia concerning nuclear deterrence.

“We see that the current geopolitical situation is changing dynamically; we must take this into account, including the emergence of new sources of military threats and risks for Russia and our allies, and accordingly adjust the provisions of the strategic planning documents to the current realities,” said the president.

He emphasized that today the nuclear triad remains the most important guarantee of security for Russia and its citizens, serving as a tool for maintaining strategic parity and balance of power in the world.

“In conclusion, I would like to note that all clarifications are deeply verified and proportionate to the current military threats and risks facing the Russian Federation,” Putin remarked.

The permanent meeting was attended by Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, and SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin.
