Pedestrian Hit and Run in Yerevan: Coffee Machine Destroyed and Suspect in Hospitalization Spree
Today, September 24, a hit and run incident occurred in Yerevan, as reported by shamshyan.com.
At approximately 08:35, 20-year-old Mikayel A. from Gegharkunik Province, while driving a Lexus CX300, struck three pedestrians on Bashinjaghyan Street, then crashed a coffee machine installed on the roadside, drove over a green lawn, and partially ended up on the sidewalk designated for pedestrians.
According to a photojournalist at the scene, the driver did not flee but instead called for an ambulance and, with the help of citizens, assisted the paramedics from Yerevan’s 1-03 emergency service in transporting the injured to the Armenia Medical Center.
A combat unit from the Yerevan number 7 fire and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also arrived at the scene.
Information about the incident has been forwarded by the police division of Yerevan to the road traffic crimes investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, where an investigative team has been dispatched.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the identities of the injured are being established.
The driver underwent a sobriety test at the scene and was found to be sober. By the investigator's directive, the vehicle has been moved to a secure area maintained by the police in Yerevan.
