The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, sustained injuries from an explosion of his personal pagers. This was reported by the Islamic Republic's Mehr News Agency.
"The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was injured due to the explosion of pagers," the report noted.
Today, Lebanon's national NNA agency reported that dozens of people were affected by pager explosions in southern suburbs of Beirut and other areas of the country. The report mentioned that the explosions were caused by "high-tech impacts." Later, Lebanon's Health Minister stated that the number of casualties reached hundreds.
The ministry has called on all hospitals in the country to go into maximum preparedness mode to provide emergency assistance to the owners of the exploded devices. Furthermore, pager owners have been urged to dispose of their devices immediately.
According to some media reports, pagers are utilized by the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah" as a closed communication system, which is least prone to hacking and eavesdropping.
Sky News Arabia, Reuters, and Al Jazeera report that Israel is involved in this situation. According to Al Jazeera, hospitals are operating under extreme pressure, transferring numerous injured individuals from southern Beirut to hospitals.
Reportedly, the communication devices near the victims, including phones, pagers, etc., are exploding.
