Fifth Member of Kidnapping Gang Arrested from Swimming Pool
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported that on September 4, 2024, charges were filed against four members of a criminal organization involved in the kidnapping of a woman from the "San Marko" swimming pool, located on the Ashtarak highway in Yerevan. Following the approval of the prosecuting authority's requests by the court, these individuals were arrested.
The investigation also revealed the identity of a fifth member of the criminal group, who, based on investigation data, had left the territory of Armenia and was in Georgia. A public criminal prosecution was initiated against this individual as well, and a decision was made to arrest and present him to the prosecuting authority, with the responsibility for enforcement entrusted to the police.
As a result of the undertaken measures, this fifth member of the criminal gang was identified and arrested on September 16 at the Bagratashen checkpoint in Armenia. Additionally, through cooperation between law enforcement agencies, the BMW vehicle used by the criminals to abduct the 55-year-old victim was discovered on the inter-village road in the village of Voskepar in the Tavush region. The vehicle was searched, identified as physical evidence, and transferred to a specially designated area.
The active investigation continues in the serious crimes investigation department of the Yerevan investigative administration of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
