11,830 Male Minors Renounce Armenian Citizenship

The Fact-Checking Platform reports that from 2018 to 2024, 11,830 male representatives in Armenia have renounced their citizenship.

The platform submitted an inquiry to the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, which responded that during the years 2018-2024, 11,830 males under the age of 18 renounced their Armenian citizenship.

In 2018, the citizenship of 1,899 Armenian citizens was terminated. The highest number of males renouncing citizenship occurred in 2019, with a total of 2,264 individuals. In 2020, 1,543 males renounced their citizenship; in 2021, the figure was 2,056; in 2022, 1,953; and in 2023, 1,625 male minors lost their Armenian citizenship.

As of August 1, 2024, 490 males under 18 have renounced their Armenian citizenship. Thus, the statistics for the first eight months of 2024 indicate a significant decrease in the number of cases of renouncing citizenship compared to previous years.
