Turkey Does Not Get to Make Decisions for Us, Says Cyprus President

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the defense cooperation roadmap signed between the United States and Cyprus, stating that this move harms the security of the Turkish side of Cyprus. In a statement released by Turkey's Foreign Ministry, it was noted that such actions weaken the neutral stance of the United States regarding Cyprus and complicate the just resolution of the long-standing Cyprus issue.

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, condemning Turkey's response, stated, “Turkey does not get to make decisions for us. Nor do our decisions react to Turkey's actions or inactions. What is important is that the United States recognizes the special role of the Republic of Cyprus in terms of geopolitical significance.”
