Highest Solar Flare Recorded: X-Class Eruption on the Sun

The highest X-class solar flare in nearly a month has been recorded on the Sun. This was reported by the website of the Institute of Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Solar Astronomy Laboratory.

"For the first time in almost a month, an X-class flare has been registered on the Sun. The maximum intensity of the flare occurred at 12:43 Moscow time. The last event of this magnitude on the star happened back on August 18. The initial flare classification is designated as X1.3," said Bogachov.

It is noted that this event is not record-breaking and is significantly lower than the largest flares during the current solar cycle; however, it aligns with the overall trend of increasing solar activity observed in recent days.

The location of the flare on the solar disk virtually eliminates the possibility of plasma or particles from the explosion entering the Earth. Nevertheless, geomagnetic activity is expected to be at a significantly perturbed level today due to plasma clouds from earlier eruptions reaching the planet.

A planetary-scale weak storm is already being recorded, but the peak of the disturbances is anticipated this evening when the main mass of material reaches the Earth. The maximum level of the storm is expected to be around 2-3 on a scale of 5 today.
