FFA's Statement Regarding Chancharovic's 'Match-Fixing' Allegations
The Football Federation of Armenia has issued a statement regarding the allegations made by Armenian National Assembly member Gegham Nazaryan against our national Serbian goalkeeper, Ognjen Chancharovic, following the match against North Macedonia.
The statement particularly mentions that after the UEFA Nations League match between North Macedonia and Armenia, the goalkeeper faced undue insults and accusations from the MP related to the two goals conceded during the match. Discussions and criticism are always appropriate and important after football matches, while unfounded insults and accusations are unwarranted and unacceptable.
Since the first day of being called up to the national team, Ognjen Chancharovic has consistently proven that he is more than deserving to wear the Armenian national team jersey both through his performance and his personal qualities off the pitch. Any alleged mistakes made in an individual game cannot serve as grounds for baseless accusations, especially since in the first half of the same match, our goalkeeper played reliably on several occasions, saving our team.
The FFA condemns the expression of unfounded accusations and insults directed at any player wearing the jersey of the Armenian national team. We are confident that both at the national team level and in club football, Ognjen Chancharovic will continue to delight Armenian fans with his reliable performances.
