Video: RPA MP Plays Clip of Kocharian's Interview in Parliament
For several days now, the Armenian National Assembly has been discussing the circular 004 circulated by the Dashnaktsutyun party, which contains certain provisions regarding the concession of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, particularly concerning Armenia's inclusion in a Union state or as part of Russia. This was announced in parliament by Deputy Vahagn Aleksanyan, addressing representatives of the opposition.
According to Aleksanyan, whenever they start discussing this matter, the Dashnaktsutyun officials periodically make some statements, characterizing them as 'mutit' or using other terminology in response to media inquiries.
“They regularly assert that Dashnaktsutyun stands at the roots of Armenia’s independence and that Dashnaktsutyun is fighting for Armenia’s independence,” said the deputy, referencing a segment from Robert Kocharian’s interview where, in response to a journalist's question about whether he supports Armenia joining a Union state, Kocharian remarked, “It feels as though we might need a larger union.”
“Thus, this group of those who want to be included and included in a larger union tries to call itself a political team standing at the roots of the Republic of Armenia's independence and a team that does not concede Armenia's sovereignty. You have nothing to do with Armenia’s sovereignty or independence; the maximum you can do is to be included or to be placed, which has not been going well lately,” declared Aleksanyan.
