Two Eruptions Occurred on the Sun: Two Plasma Clouds Heading Towards Earth

On September 7, 2024, a massive plasma ejection occurred on the visible side of the Sun, which scientists report will "graze the edge of Earth." This morning, September 9, the Sun emitted a new large volume of plasma directly towards Earth. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Cosmic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On the evening of September 10, magnetic storms of levels 1-2 on a 5-point scale are forecasted. There is about a 30 percent chance that the auroras will be visible in the European part of the Earth. The arrival of the solar masses ejected by the Sun is expected after noon on September 11. According to scientists, the two solar impacts on Earth may combine into one storm that will last approximately one day.

“It can be observed that the new ejection has a very unusual, double shape in the photograph, appearing to consist of two clouds. The right side seems to be the result of the eruption that occurred in the morning on the western edge of the Sun and is not dangerous for Earth. The threats are associated with the central cloud directed straight towards Earth,” the laboratory stated in its announcement.
