Video: Criminal Responsibility Inevitable Otherwise, Says Ministry of Internal Affairs
In an effort to prevent serious and particularly serious crimes and unfortunate incidents, as well as to maintain control over crime situations, the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to work on the discovery and confiscation of weapons and ammunition illegally held by citizens, emphasizing propaganda methods, according to a report from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Thanks to the explanatory work of the officers of the Armavir regional police department and the Vagharshapat division, on the evening of September 4, an unknown citizen called the Armavir operational management center and reported that they had brought weapons and ammunition from the 44-day war and were leaving them at the partially constructed building at the beginning of the village of Voskahat. The dispatched police discovered a significant amount of weapons and ammunition: 3 submachine guns, 1 pistol, 2 TOZ-type rifles, 3 short-barreled IZH-type rifles, 1 radio device, 5 magazines for submachine guns, 3 blocks of explosives, 1 grenade detonator, 2 metal centers for handmade grenades, 2 F1-type grenades, 1 RG-42 type grenade, 2 training grenades, 114 rounds for a rifle and 1200 rounds for a submachine gun, along with other military items.
On the same evening, the work of the criminal detectives of the Yerevan city police department reached a logical conclusion; a caller to 1-02 reported that they had participated in the 44-day war and left a submachine gun with ammunition near the garages on Kajaznuni street. The operational group dispatched to the scene discovered a sports bag containing a submachine gun with a magazine.
On the same day, another unknown caller reported to the police that they had left weapons brought from the war near the power pole in the Dalma Gardens. Law enforcement officers discovered four polyethylene bags at the specified location, which contained 2 grenades with detonators, 2 handmade pistols, submachine gun ammunition, a short-barreled hunting rifle, a smooth-bore shotgun, and a handmade projectile launcher - a crossbow.
The police are also discovering and confiscating illegal weapons, but in such cases, we remind that criminal responsibility is inevitable. In the early hours of September 5, around 1 a.m., patrol officers serving on the Berd-Aygepar road stopped a "UAZ" vehicle for malfunctioning light devices, where a rifle was clearly visible under the feet of the 44-year-old passenger. He claimed he had no relevant documentation, and the rifle belonged to his deceased father. Another hunting rifle was found in the vehicle, for which the driver presented the relevant documents. The vehicle has been moved to the custody of the police department. The discovered weapons and prepared documents have been submitted to the investigative division. The circumstances of this case are being investigated.
To prevent the case from reaching prosecution, we again urge our citizens to voluntarily hand over illegally held weapons and ammunition and avoid criminal liability.
Notice: A suspect or accused in an alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law of the Republic of Armenia, as determined by a legally binding court judgment.
