Woman Abducted from Swimming Pool in Yerevan: Investigative Committee Shares Details

On September 4, 2024, at 14:58, the Armenian National Police received a report about the abduction of a woman from the address 7/2 Ashtarak Highway in Yerevan. The incident occurred around 12:00 the same day, when two individuals forcibly placed a woman into a BMW vehicle and drove away in an unknown direction.

Following the incident, the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated criminal proceedings on September 4, 2024, based on characteristics of Article 191, Part 2, Point 5 and Article 453, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. An investigative team has been tasked with the preliminary investigation.

On the same day, an examination of the crime scene was conducted, resulting in the collection of video footage from surveillance devices related to the incident. Witnesses to the incident have been interviewed.

According to preliminary information, the victim was approached by two individuals dressed in black, fully covered and wearing masks, while she was at the San Marco swimming pool with her relatives. They identified themselves as agents of the National Security Service and began speaking with the woman. They quickly relocated her from the swimming pool area to the parking lot and left in a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to locate both the victim and the suspects involved in the apparent crime. Operational and investigative measures have been authorized to acquire additional information of interest to the investigation, directed to the relevant subdivision of the Armenian National Police.
