Suspects in Grenade Attack on Nor Nork Police Station to Remain in Custody
Three suspects involved in the grenade attack attempt on the Nor Nork Police Station in Armenia will continue to remain in custody, according to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
It has become known that recently the pre-trial body applied to the court to extend the detention of the suspects, which the court granted. Furthermore, according to information received by 'Zhoghovurd', the charges against those detained in the case have been reclassified, and more severe accusations have been brought against them.
The case is in its final stages, and the conclusion of the preliminary investigation is expected to be announced soon, after which it will be sent to court.
To recall, on March 24 of this year, around 5:00 PM, three armed individuals attempted to storm the administrative building of the Nor Nork Police Station and used a grenade, resulting in injuries to two of the assailants who were later hospitalized. A criminal proceeding has been initiated on the grounds of terrorism.
One of the injured individuals who stormed the Nor Nork police station was Arthur Movsisyan, whose son, Edgar Movsisyan, lost his life in the 44-day war. The other detainee is Stepan Hovakimyan, a resident of Kotayk province, who engaged in negotiations with Police Chief Aram Hovhannisyan for about two hours. Later, the special forces unit of the National Security Service arrived at the scene and neutralized Hovakimyan.
It is noteworthy that prior to going to the Nor Nork police station with a grenade, Hovakimyan went live on social media and urged the release of 49 members of the 'Combat Brotherhood', who went to Voskepar out of concern for homeland issues. During negotiations with Police Chief Aram Hovhannisyan, he insisted that the police should not comply with the demands of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
