The participants in the incident involving virtuoso pianist, jazz musician, and composer Tigran Hamasyan have been interrogated, and initial investigative actions have been carried out. Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, confirmed this in an interview with Armenpress.
“A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of hooliganism. Initial investigative actions have been conducted, and the participants in the incident have been interrogated. At this moment, there is still no person subjected to criminal prosecution in connection to this case. The pre-investigation continues,” said Abrahamyan.
Earlier, the organizational council of the “Land and Water”-2 event released a statement regarding an attack on the concert group. According to the statement, the initiators of the cultural event “Land and Water”-2 were set to hold a concert-video recording under field conditions on August 29, along the northern slope of Mount Aragats. In the morning, with technical equipment and a piano, the group of 70, alongside world-renowned jazz musician, composer, and performer Tigran Hamasyan and the Khazer choir, moved towards Lake Rapi to organize the concert recording and shooting.
At around 16:00, three individuals unrelated to the event arrived at the filming site in a car, settling on the opposite shore of the lake and appearing in the filming shot. The organizers politely requested that they move a bit further away to avoid disturbing the recording. However, after relocating, at 18:00, the group started making a huge noise.
The members of the organizational group again asked them to keep the noise down and invited them to silently participate in the concert and filming observation. The group refused, promised to stop making noise, but after 19:00 began to disrupt the recordings again with shouting and whistling. Around 19:20, the audience near the lake approached that group to explain the unacceptability of their behavior, after which the group left but returned shortly after, observing the participants and vehicles before leaving the area again.
The concert shooting was completed at 19:45. On the way back, a convoy of ten vehicles was blocked by the same group with three cars at the intersection of Geghard village and the H21 (Artik-Alagyaz) road, obstructing movement. They attacked the first few cars, breaking the window of one vehicle where Tigran Hamasyan was, and struck the face of another driver while hitting the driver’s head against the steering wheel multiple times.
In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee had initiated a criminal case on hooliganism grounds. The Committee reported that they had no information regarding injured individuals; it was recorded that the window of one vehicle had been smashed.
