20 Thousand Drivers Joined to Electronic Platforms Registered with Tax Authority

20 thousand drivers providing taxi services through orders from electronic platforms such as GG, Yandex, and Utaxi have already registered with the tax authority. In an interview with Armenpress, Lusine Ayvazyan, head of the Project Implementation Department of the RA State Revenue Committee (SRC) 'G Solutions' agency, provided details about the new regulations that came into force on September 1.

As previously reported, starting from September 1, taxi drivers are required to provide customers with an electronic cash register receipt. Only organizations, individual entrepreneurs, or physical persons that have joined the tax authority's electronic system and provide electronic cash register receipts are allowed to carry out passenger transportation. Failure to provide a receipt will incur a fine of 200,000 drams.

There will be no need to install a separate cash register machine for providing cash register receipts. Ayvazyan stated that electronic platforms are now connected to the SRC system, and according to recent data, approximately 150,000 electronic receipts have been issued with a total value of 192 million drams.

“At this time, 20,000 citizens have already registered with the tax authority without any application,” she noted. “If a foreign citizen is providing services through the same platforms, they need to submit an online application or visit the tax authority.”

Regarding individual drivers, Ayvazyan mentioned that the SRC has developed an application available for both Android and iOS systems. To use the application, citizens of the RA and those who have been forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and settled in Armenia must have an MID identification.

“If a person has an MID identification and logs into the system, they can register with the tax authority online without submitting any application,” she explained. Ayvazyan noted that the applications are ready; the iOS version has been approved and is already available for download in the Apple Store, while the Android version is still pending approval.

The application is called My Tax, and users should search for My Tax Armenia to download it. As for the taxi services, they are also required to generate electronic cash register receipts. These organizations and individual entrepreneurs must have their own electronic systems to generate cash register receipts and send them to the SRC.

“The process of sending to the SRC is carried out through a web service connected to the SRC,” Ayvazyan emphasized. It is worth noting that taxi fares for cash payments will be higher than for non-cash payments. Starting from September 1, 2024, the fare will be 2% of the transportation cost, rising to 3.5% by January 1, 2025, and 5% by January 1, 2026. For non-cash payments, starting from September 1, 2024, the state tax will be 1.5% of each transportation's total value, increasing to 2.5% on January 1, 2025, and 4% on January 1, 2026. Therefore, for a 1,000 dram order, from September 1 until the end of the year, the tax will be 20 drams for cash payments and 15 drams for non-cash payments.
