Subjects Without Textbooks This Year, Says Deputy Minister of Education

This academic year, some textbooks will not be available in Armenian public schools. According to Sputnik Armenia, this information was disclosed by Araksia Svajyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia.

She stated that the Ministry of Education has already sent a circular to all public schools. “This year, we do not have textbooks for three subjects, but it will not be possible to teach using old textbooks because the content of these subjects has completely changed. Specifically, we do not have textbooks for 'Digital Literacy and Computer Science' for grades 7 and 8. We received one textbook from the same author, which could not be guaranteed even after revision, as the scores were quite low. We will organize teaching for these subjects through educational materials tested in Tavush. We have already announced a new competition, and we hope to have textbooks in the near future. We also do not have textbooks for the 'History of Armenia' subject for grade 10,” said Svajyan.

She noted that the ministry is organizing specialized training for 1,500 teachers who will teach the 'History of Armenia' subject in grade 10. “The training has already begun. Teachers will be provided with educational materials, and there will be mentoring support throughout the entire academic year,” said Svajyan. She emphasized that such experience for teachers is important, as instruction in high schools under the new standards will be based not only on textbooks but also on educational material folders.
