Samvel Babayan Envisions Himself as the Leader of Displaced Artsakh Residents

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that former Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh, Samvel Babayan's political appetite has once again resurfaced as he actively prepares for the parliamentary elections in Armenia.

According to information from 'Zhoghovurd', he has suggested to the representatives of Artsakh to form a special committee and has indirectly proposed himself as the head of this newly established committee. Babayan urged Artsakh officials and citizens to unite around him and present a united front in the upcoming regular or extraordinary elections expected in 2026.

He also assured that he knows solutions to all the problems, and if he gains consolidation around him, many issues could be addressed.

In other words, Samvel Babayan envisions himself as the leader of displaced Artsakh residents in Armenia. Representatives of Artsakh who spoke with 'Zhoghovurd' indicated that many have rejected Babayan's proposal.

To confirm this information, 'Zhoghovurd' contacted Hayk Khanumyan, the former Minister of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Artsakh, who is close to Babayan. He initially expressed outrage at our inquiry but later assured that Babayan's proposal to create a committee has nothing to do with the elections, stating it was merely aimed at addressing the issues faced by displaced Artsakh residents.
