Peskov: 'We Do Not Use Any Messengers for Official Purposes in the President's Office'

The press secretary of the President, Dmitry Peskov, stated in a press briefing that the Kremlin administration does not use messengers, including Telegram, for official purposes.

He was asked whether Kremlin officials were requested to 'clean up' their correspondence on Telegram after Pavel Durov was detained in France.

Peskov responded, 'Civil servants, in theory, should not use messengers from an information security standpoint, nor Telegram. In the President's office, we do not use any messengers for official purposes,' he assured.

According to him, using messengers for official purposes 'would constitute a violation of official rules and official ethics.' He added, 'Therefore, naturally, no one is calling for anyone to clean anything up.'
