Detention of Pavel Durov Extended in France: AFP

A French court has extended the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov by 48 hours, according to AFP. The agency notes that the detention could last a maximum of 96 hours, after which the judge must either release him or file charges.

Bloomberg has also reported that Durov's detention may be prolonged. It is mentioned that under French law, the detention period can be extended only once.

French authorities have not provided any official comments regarding Durov's case.

As for Telegram, the company has noted in response to his arrest that its CEO has nothing to hide, stating that he often travels across Europe and that Telegram complies with EU laws, including the Digital Services Act.
