Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison
The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, who was arrested in France on the evening of August 24, may face up to 20 years in prison. This was reported by French journalist Kirill Amurskin on X, adding that he cannot seek asylum in France as he is a citizen of that country.
On Saturday evening, French media reported that Pavel Durov was detained at the "Le Bourget" airport. He had reportedly arrived from Azerbaijan on a private jet.
According to French media sources, Durov, who is a citizen of France, was on a list of individuals wanted by the country’s authorities. The French justice system considers Durov implicated in various crimes, including his refusal to cooperate with state authorities.
