Russia's Embassy Seeks Explanation from France on Durov's Arrest
The Russian embassy in Paris has demanded an explanation from French authorities regarding the reasons behind the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov. However, French officials have so far refused to cooperate on this matter, as reported by the embassy's press service.
“After news broke in the media about Pavel Durov's arrest, we immediately requested clarification from the French authorities and demanded that his rights be protected and that consular access be ensured regarding this ongoing cooperation,” stated the diplomatic mission.
The embassy also mentioned that it is in communication with Durov's lawyer.
On Saturday evening, French media reported that the Telegram founder was detained at Le Bourget Airport after disembarking from a private jet that had arrived from Azerbaijan. According to the French press, Durov, who holds French citizenship, was on a list of individuals wanted by law enforcement in the country.
