Israeli Delegation Heads to Cairo for Gaza Negotiations
Israeli negotiators, led by Mossad Director David Barnea, have departed for Egypt's capital to continue discussions on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on Thursday by The Times of Israel, citing its sources.
The publication does not specify whether other delegations are also in Cairo. However, according to CNN, the United States, acting as a mediator, has agreed to send its negotiators to Egypt. The American delegation is reportedly set to be led again by CIA Director William Burns.
At the same time, The National had previously reported, citing sources, that the phase of ceasefire negotiations set to begin on Thursday in Cairo has been postponed until next week to allow the parties time to discuss new proposals.
The ongoing negotiation process regarding Gaza involves the conflicting parties of Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement, as well as mediators Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
