Colonel Accused in 44-Day War Case Acquitted

The criminal prosecution against Colonel Vahan Yaloyan, who was accused in connection with the case related to the 44-day war, has been terminated. This information was reported by 168.am, citing the spokesperson of the RA Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan.

“A decision has been made by the prosecutor to terminate the criminal prosecution against Vahan Yaloyan on acquitting grounds,” he stated.

On January 27, 2022, the Investigative Committee announced that Colonel V. Yaloyan, the commander of the N defense sector of the Artsakh Republic’s Defense Army, was charged on January 19, 2022, under the Article 364, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (Refusal to perform military duties during a state of martial law, war, or during combat) and Article 376, Part 1 (Negligence of a commander or official in duty, causing significant harm). The offense occurred during the period from October 10 to 13, 2020.

The outlet notes that there have been occasional reports in the media about the close relationship between Vahan Yaloyan and the RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan.
