VIDEO: Identities of Other Missing Persons in Sicily Boat Disaster Revealed
Jonathan Blumer, president of the international bank Morgan Stanley, and Chris Morville, a lawyer at the international law firm Clifford Chance, are among the six individuals considered missing following the boat disaster, as reported by the BBC, referencing the Civil Protection Service of Sicily.
Also missing are British tech magnate Mike Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah. The 56-meter-long vessel, the 'Bayesian,' was carrying 22 people, including Britons, Americans, and Canadians. Fifteen people have been rescued, including a one-year-old British girl.
The Civil Protection Service of Sicily has confirmed that the body of the ship's cook has also been found. The boat capsized around 5:00 AM local time due to a severe storm, and search operations were set to resume at 6:30 AM, as reported by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
The yacht was sailing under the British flag, with a crew of 12 and 12 passengers, and capsized near the Porticello harbor on Monday. Witnesses told the Italian news agency Ansa that the anchor was dropped during the storm, causing the vessel to break apart, lose balance, and ultimately capsize. The boat is located at a depth of 50 meters, and divers are preparing to resume the search for the missing individuals.
