Man Buys Agricultural Products with Counterfeit Money in Vedi
On August 19, at 11 PM, a citizen reported to the police that they had received counterfeit money while selling goods in the village of Vedi. The caller also noted that the buyers were in a Nissan vehicle and had headed towards Jermuk.
The report was forwarded to the Ararat police department, from which an operational group set out in pursuit of the alert. It was found that the driver of the vehicle had paid with a counterfeit 10,000 dram note and, in addition to the agricultural products, had also received 6,750 drams in change.
As a result of operational-investigative measures, police officers from the division, in cooperation with patrol officers from the Ararat region, identified the driver. He was a 41-year-old resident of Yerevan.
Approximately an hour and a half after the alert, at the 26th km of the Yeraskh-Yerevan highway, within the administrative territory of Vedi village, the driver and his passenger, a 45-year-old man also from Yerevan, were found, arrested, and taken to the Ararat police department. Here it was clarified that it was not the driver but the passenger who had used the counterfeit money.
During a personal search, 17 counterfeit 10,000 dram notes and 11 counterfeit 20,000 dram notes were found in the passenger's wallet.
The seized items were packaged and presented to the investigating body along with the men. The Nissan was confiscated and moved to the special storage of the department. The circumstances are being clarified.
