Dozens of Migrants Called to Recruitment Centers in Russia: Media
Russian media, citing sources in the Moscow city police, report that after police raids over the weekend, several dozen labor migrants have been officially summoned to recruitment centers.
The police operations were conducted to identify illegal immigrants and to ascertain whether individuals from former Soviet republics who have come to Russia and obtained citizenship are subject to a recently enacted law that requires holders of new Russian passports to register for military service.
Since January, labor migrants arriving from Central Asia have frequently been subjected to police raids. Some detained migrants are forcibly taken to military commissariats, where they are pressured to sign contracts for deployment to Ukraine.
