Relatives of Tlik Village Mayor Fired Shots at Him: Circumstances of the Noisy Incident Revealed
The Investigative Committee reports: "On August 15, 2024, based on a report submitted by the administrative head of the Tlik community in Aragatsotn region, a criminal case was initiated in the Talin investigative department of the Aragatsotn regional investigative administration, under the characteristics of Article 171, Part 2, Clause 5; Article 195, Part 2, Clause 5; Article 297, Part 3; and Article 334, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The pre-investigation was entrusted to an investigative group.
During the pre-investigation, investigative and procedural actions were conducted, which provided preliminary data that on August 15, 2024, around 7:00 PM, relatives of the husband of the administrative head's daughter, for personal reasons, arrived in the mentioned village in a "Niva" brand vehicle. They approached the administrative head, got out of the vehicle, shouted insults towards him, and physically assaulted him, striking various parts of his body.
Subsequently, one of them, a 40-year-old man, took a weapon from the vehicle, fired shots into the air, and then aimed it at the official. A 33-year-old man also struck the mayor on the head with a stone, causing bodily harm. During this time, two of the mentioned individuals also assaulted the mayor's son, who intervened in the altercation to prevent further escalation.
A scene inspection was conducted within the framework of the criminal case, and three fired cartridges were found. Samples were taken, forensic examinations were commissioned, and several individuals were interrogated. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the incident. The relevant department of the RA Police has been instructed to undertake operational-search measures to determine the whereabouts of the individuals alleged to have committed the crime. The pre-investigation continues."
