Turkey to Collect Fingerprints Upon Entry

The Turkish authorities plan to collect fingerprints from all individuals entering the country, announced Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, as reported by the Sabah newspaper.

"The Interior Minister announced a significant project for the future and stated that fingerprints would be collected upon entry to Turkey, similar to procedures in the United States and the United Kingdom," the report noted.

Additionally, the minister added that it is intended to chip the identification documents of those granted temporary protection status, particularly Syrians.
