Toxic Pollutants May Be Emitted into the Air Due to Fire at the Nubarashen Landfill
The Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center has reported on the state of air pollution in Yerevan from August 8-12. According to the report, the dust concentration exceeded the permissible limit in the Central administrative district during this period. In the Shengavit and Nor Nork administrative districts, the limit was surpassed on August 10 and 11, while in the Arabkir district, it exceeded the limit on August 11.
The concentration of sulfur dioxide also exceeded the permissible limit in Arabkir on August 10 and 11, and in Nor Nork on August 10. Although the concentration of nitrogen dioxide did not exceed the corresponding permissible limit, an increase in concentration was observed at all monitoring stations compared to previous days.
Due to the fire at the Nubarashen landfill, harmful pollutants may be emitted into the atmosphere, including dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and other pollutants.
