Major Earthquakes Expected in Turkey, Says Japanese Expert

Japanese earthquake specialist Yoshinori Morivaki has stated that major earthquakes will occur in Turkey. According to him, there will be underground tremors in cities along the North Anatolian fault line, putting residential areas in 32 provinces of Turkey at risk.

Morivaki emphasized that Turkey must take immediate action. “The Eastern Anatolian fault line has been releasing energy that has built up over time, leading to the activation of western fault lines. This situation contributed to the Adana earthquake, and fault lines leading to Cyprus could increase the risk of earthquakes in the Mediterranean Sea,” he noted.

The earthquake expert mentioned that Indonesia's fault lines are beginning to press against each other, causing tremors even in cities that have not experienced earthquakes before. He explained that the fault lines behave like a domino effect, where one movement triggers others.

Morivaki pointed out that the aforementioned fault line is one of the fastest and most active in the world and added that residents of Izmir, Balikesir, Manisa, Mugla, Aydin, Denizli, Bursa, Bilecik, Yalova, Sakarya, Hatay, Amasya, Canakkale, Erzincan, Tunceli, Bingol, Mus, Hakkari, and Osmaniye should take additional measures.
