"The Individual Sustained Injuries, Those Responsible Must Be Held Accountable": Ombudsman on the Beating of Aram Yeritsyan

If incidents of violence occur, they must be unequivocally condemned, and a proper investigation should be carried out by the relevant authorities. This was stated by the Armenian Ombudsman Anahit Manasyan during a conversation with reporters, regarding the case of violence committed by police against the brother of lawyer Roman Yeritsyan.

"Our actions in this regard have been public. Immediately after the incident, the lawyer, who is the brother of the citizen, reported to us. We clarified the whereabouts of the citizen, as it seemed that there was also a lack of information on that. By my instruction, we swiftly conducted a rapid response visit. We documented both the injuries and heard from the citizen, as well as obtained clarifications from the other party in oral form. If incidents of violence occur and the investigation reveals that a specific individual is responsible under this or that criminal composition, then they must certainly be held accountable," said Manasyan.
