American Astronauts May Be Stuck on International Space Station Until February 2025 After Eight-Day Mission
Two American astronauts who left for the International Space Station on an eight-day mission on June 5 may be stranded there until next year if their Boeing Starliner spacecraft cannot be repaired for their return home, according to NASA.
The representatives from NASA highlighted that astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, the first crew to fly on the Boeing Starliner, might return on SpaceX's Crew Dragon in February 2025 if the Starliner is still deemed unsafe for re-entry.
Issues are related to the Starliner's propulsion system, casting serious doubts on the spacecraft’s ability to safely bring Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams back to Earth.
