Trade Between India and Bangladesh Completely Halted

Trade between India and Bangladesh has been completely halted against the backdrop of a political crisis in Bangladesh, said Ashwani Kumar, president of the Indian Exporters' Association, in a conversation with TASS.

“Trade has been entirely stopped since August 5, but our partners in Bangladesh predict that the situation will stabilize in the coming week, which is encouraging,” he said.

Kumar also reported that exports from India to Bangladesh for 2023-24 have amounted to $11 billion, with exported goods including cotton, petroleum products, vehicles and their parts, textiles, grains, fruits and vegetables, tea, coffee, spices, and more. On the other hand, Bangladesh exports clothing, knitwear, leather goods, animal feed, and fish to India.

It should be recalled that after protests and clashes in Bangladesh, the Prime Minister resigned and left the country. A temporary government has been formed in the nation.
