Details of the Incident in PoghVor Vedi

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has provided details about the incident that occurred on August 4 in a bar in PoghvVor Vedi, during which an attempted murder took place.

According to the factual data obtained from the conducted investigative and procedural actions, on August 4, 2024, at around 00:30, a 32-year-old resident of Ararat province was in the bar in PoghvVor Vedi for his cousin's birthday celebration, where a dispute arose between him, his close friends, and acquaintances of a 32-year-old man.

Subsequently, at the invitation of one of these acquaintances, a 26-year-old resident from the same province arrived at the bar along with several individuals, aware that he was heading to a conflict site, and determined to punish those who had offended his relative with a weapon. He openly displayed contempt for legal and moral norms, intending to emphasize his superiority over the others by engaging in a confrontation with the 32-year-old man and his relatives.

During the dispute, the 26-year-old escalated his actions to a more dangerous level, intending to unlawfully take the life of the 32-year-old man. He fired once from an illegal weapon, an air pistol, hitting the man in the chest area, causing him to fall. The 26-year-old then left the scene with the other individuals involved in the incident.

Due to circumstances beyond his control, he was unable to complete the crime. The 32-year-old man was transported to the Erebuni Medical Center, where medical staff were able to save his life with their intervention.

The police have been instructed to locate the 26-year-old and present him to the prosecuting body. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
