At Least Four People Have Died Due to Storm 'Debby' in the U.S.

At least four people have died and around 160,000 individuals have lost power after storm 'Debby' reached the east coast of the United States, NBC reports.

"Two people were killed in a car accident in Dixie County, Florida, late yesterday evening, including a 12-year-old boy, bringing the total number of victims from Debby to at least four," the broadcaster stated.

It has been reported that more than 158,000 people in Florida and Georgia have been left without electricity. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 61 counties across the state. President Joe Biden has approved the request of the Governor of South Carolina to declare a state of emergency in the state.

Earlier, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that tropical storm 'Debby' had intensified to hurricane levels, reaching speeds of 120 kilometers per hour. The storm has already made landfall along the Florida coast, and a hurricane warning is also in effect for the coastal areas of Georgia and South Carolina.
