Elon Musk's Company Implants Chip in Second Human Brain
American entrepreneur Elon Musk's Neuralink company has successfully implanted a neurochip in the brain of a second human, Musk announced during a podcast hosted by YouTuber Lex Fridman. He stated that everything went smoothly.
“I don’t want to jinx it, but everything went very well with the second implant. There are a lot of signals, many electrodes. It works very well,” Musk said. According to him, there are 400 electrodes functioning in the human brain.
In January 2024, Musk's Neuralink company made headlines as it became the first to implant a neurochip in a human brain, allowing individuals to control a smartphone or computer simply by thinking. The device is primarily intended for people with disabilities.
In May, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services authorized the company to implant its Telepathy brain chip in a second person's brain.
According to Bloomberg, Neuralink hopes to create a system in the future where anyone can visit a clinic and, through a 15-minute surgery, become a 'cyborg', enabling them to download information from the internet directly into their brain, akin to Keanu Reeves' character in 'The Matrix.'
