Access to One of the Famous Shores of Lake Sevan Now Allowed Under New Regulations
The National Park of Sevan has announced new regulations for access to the territory of the Norashen Reserve and Protected Area. Entry is allowed every day of the week, for a maximum of 3 hours, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, based on permits issued by the Sevan National Park and under the supervision of rangers. This information was provided by the Ministry of Environment.
No more than 30 people can be present in the area at the same time.
Activities permitted in the reserve area include scientific studies of natural ecosystems, biodiversity, landscapes, and natural heritage; inventorying and monitoring; ecotourism along designated routes; conducting educational institution internships; carrying out sanitary and fire safety measures; the installation of temporary non-concrete structures with a maximum surface area of 20 m² for rest areas and observation points, limited to 3 units; and executing educational events, along with official visits related to the operations of the Norashen Reserve and Protected Area.
The following activities are prohibited: entry into bird nesting sites (except for scientific studies); collection of bird eggs; disturbing birds through noise or other disruptive activities (such as sound signals or gunshots); deviating from established ecotourism routes; polluting the area with domestic, industrial, and chemical waste; lighting fires and other fire-starting activities; and damaging boundary poles, informational signs, fences, and notices.
In the water area of the reserve and protected zone, it is prohibited to use water resources in a way that disrupts water systems or regimes; fishing, hunting, and catching crabs and other aquatic animals; entry of motorized water vehicles within 300 meters from the shore, except for necessary cases for the protection of the reserve or protected area; and polluting the water area.
For Armenian citizens, each visitor’s entrance fee is set at 1,500 AMD, while for foreign visitors it is 3,000 AMD. Payments can be made to the account of Sevan National Park (900018002890) or directly at the entrance point to receive an invoice voucher. The funds generated from visits will be directed towards the conservation of the reserve and protected area.
