Video: Biden's Latest Odd Behavior Explained by the U.S.

U.S. President Joe Biden boarded the plane that brought back prisoners released by Russia after an exchange, to greet the crew. This was shared on X, the social media platform, by White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates.

Earlier, attention was drawn to a video of the meeting with the released prisoners, which Biden attended. The footage shows the president unexpectedly boarding an empty plane, leaving Vice President Kamala Harris and others present puzzled. After several minutes there, Biden exited.

“Biden personally thanked the crew members who transported these brave individuals (the returned prisoners),” Bates wrote.

On Thursday, the largest prisoner exchange in recent years took place in Ankara, involving 26 prisoners from seven countries. As a result, eight Russians detained in several NATO countries returned to Moscow. Within the framework of the exchange, three Americans—Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, and Alsu Kurmasheva—returned to the U.S., along with Vladimir Kara-Murza, who has U.S. residency.
