Video: A Bird-Like Reconnaissance Drone Created in China

A drone that resembles a real bird has been showcased in China. The new flying device could have significant military and civilian applications. Specifically, it will be used for the Chinese military, including military reconnaissance, environmental monitoring, and environmental protection.

The flight motion is ensured by a crane mechanism that allows the drone to fold its wings and flap them simultaneously, just like real birds do. The drone can also rotate, folding one wing while extending both to improve energy-efficient gliding.

“Such drones are suitable for reconnaissance, observation, and even precision strike operations,” reported the Chinese Global Times newspaper.
