Hamas Political Bureau Chief Haniyeh Buried in Qatar

The head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, has been buried in a cemetery in Lusail, located north of Doha, Al Jazeera reported on Friday.

The funeral was attended by officials, members of the Qatari royal family, and Haniyeh's family. Also present at the ceremony were Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Arefi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Thousands of people turned out to bid farewell to Haniyeh. Initially, prayers were held over his coffin at the Mohammed ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha before he was taken to Lusail for burial.
