Video: Reaction of German Sentenced to Death in Belarus to Pardon Decision

Footage showing the reaction of a German sentenced to death in Belarus has been released, capturing his response upon learning about the decision to grant him a pardon.

Yesterday, German mercenary Rico Krieger found out that he would be spared, leading him to cry and express gratitude to Lukashenko for the opportunity to see his daughter. Krieger now faces either life imprisonment or a transfer to Germany as part of a prisoner exchange.

Previously, the Belarusian court found Krieger guilty on six counts under the Criminal Code, including speculative activities, collaboration with a foreign intelligence service, and terrorism. He was arrested in early October 2023 and subsequently convicted. In June 2024, the German national was sentenced to death. He has since appealed to Lukashenko for clemency.
