Discussion on the Dismissal of Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan

According to information from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, a meeting was held the day before with a group of officials during which the dismissal of Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan was discussed.

It is known that the authorities have been dissatisfied with the work of Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan for some time and are looking for someone to replace her as the chief organizer in the health sector, who is professionally a lawyer.

Sources from "Zhoghovurd" newspaper report that during the meeting, the possibility of appointing her deputy, Levon Hakobyan, as her replacement was discussed. It should be noted that Deputy Health Minister Levon Hakobyan was appointed to his position on March 25, 2019. However, prior to becoming a deputy, he began his career at the health department of Yerevan City Hall, where he served as acting director of Polyclinic No. 5.

Throughout the day, "Zhoghovurd" newspaper tried to clarify this information directly from Levon Hakobyan; however, no one answered the phone calls to his office. We also inquired about the same issue with the press secretary of Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, Mariam Tsatryan, who told us that she has no information and that normal operations are currently underway under Minister Avanesyan’s leadership.
