NSS on Withdrawal of Russian Border Guards from Zvartnots
The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia is mobilizing additional forces in connection with the upcoming withdrawal of Russian border guards. This was reported by the NSS press service in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia.
"In order to ensure the proper implementation of border control functions at the 'Zvartnots' checkpoint of the Republic of Armenia, measures have been taken by the NSS to involve additional forces in conjunction with the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the specified checkpoint," the response noted.
At the same time, the NSS stated that the process of reinforcing border guard units with the necessary personnel is a regular occurrence.
When asked whether the withdrawal of Russian border guards during the holiday season would lead to queues at the airport, the agency responded that backups usually occur when there are a large number of flights at the same time.
"Moreover, such situations have frequently arisen in the course of joint service with Russian border guards," the service added.
