Wildfire Erupts in Khosrov Forest State Reserve Due to Lightning Strike

On July 28, the Crisis Management Center of the Vayots Dzor Regional Rescue Department received information regarding smoke observed in the 'Eranos' section of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve.

A firefighting unit from the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched to the scene. It was determined that the fire had ignited as a result of a lightning strike, with a tree burning.

The fire was contained at 5:16 PM and extinguished by 5:46 PM, with one juniper tree partially burned.

Firefighting efforts involved nine employees from the Ecological Monitoring Service of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve, four rescuers, and one staff member from the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values.
