Significant Portion of Snoop Dogg Concert Tickets Returned to Buyers
A significant portion of tickets for American rapper Snoop Dogg's concert in Yerevan has been returned to buyers. This was reported by Haik Simonyan, the director of the concert organizer "Doping Space" LLC, in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.
Earlier, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan stated that it is possible the concert would take place in August this year. The media had previously sent a written inquiry to the Ministry to ascertain the concert date, but our query was directed to "Doping Space" LLC.
“Currently, negotiations are ongoing with the artist's team regarding the exact date of the concert, and as a result, you will be sent three date options for holding the concert, from which you can choose the final date,” Simonyan stated in his response to the Ministry.
When asked how many tickets have been sold and the amount, the organizer replied that due to the postponement of the concert, ticket returns are regularly processed, and therefore, such a count is not currently maintained. “At the same time, we would like to inform you that a significant portion of the tickets purchased for the postponed concert has been returned to ticket buyers at their request,” he added.
It’s worth recalling that after announcing the concert scheduled for September 23 in Yerevan, there were heated discussions mainly around the state funds to be spent on the concert. The concert was canceled due to the tragic events that occurred in the Republic of Artsakh.
The Armenian government had registered a contract for 2,318,596,800 AMD from state budget funds under the "Implementation of Cultural Events" program. This amount was paid in full on August 25. Snoop Dogg has not returned and will not return the money. The rapper's fee is estimated at 1.8 million dollars.
The concert organizer has promised that the concert will take place when the singer has an available window in his schedule.
